United Kingdom’s (UK) Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Director General Jenny Bates and His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils joined executives of the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) in a closing bell ringing ceremony on Monday, July 17, 2023, to celebrate the partnership between the Exchange and MOBILIST or Mobilising Institutional Capital through Listed Product Structures.
MOBILIST is the UK government’s flagship program that supports investment solutions to help deliver the climate transition and the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals in developing economies. By providing equity capital investment, technical assistance and advisory services, and enhanced visibility through the UK government’s platforms, MOBILIST enables new scalable and replicable financial products to list on public markets such as the PSE.
In his welcome message during the event, PSE President and CEO Ramon S. Monzon said, “When I was informed by our team about the potential partnership with MOBILIST, I took special interest in the program. MOBILIST perfectly addresses two major initiatives of the PSE – first, to get more companies to go public and second, to have more sustainability-oriented companies comprise the listed companies at PSE.”
Mr. Monzon described MOBILIST as a listing catalyst for companies that meet the program’s selection criteria and cited that its services will be a tremendous help to the IPO journey of listing applicants. “I urge the investment firms here to maximize the opportunities the program offers.”
Mr. Monzon also expressed gratitude to the FCDO for choosing PSE as partner in the MOBILIST program. Aside from the PSE, MOBILIST counts stock exchanges in Brazil, London, Mexico, Singapore, and South Africa among its partners.
After the bell ringing event, an information session was conducted for representatives of investment houses and select clients of PSE LEAP (Listing Engagement and Assistance Program) MOBILIST Head Ross Ferguson introduced the MOBILIST program to the audience while Eighteen East Capital Partner Dave Portmann tackled the criteria for selection of MOBILIST-qualified companies. UK FCDO Climate and Economic Counsellor Lloyd Cameron facilitated the open forum.
